Mission Statement

The Volunteer Services Council for San Angelo State Supported Living Center exists to provide goods, services and personal attention for its residents beyond the care and treatment provided by the State of Texas. The Council acts as a policy-making body on the requests for community assistance and represents the facility in the community by informing and educating the community of the facility's goals, accomplishments and needs. The Council represents the individuals of San Angelo State School and interacts with staff members. The council stands ready to accept any and all donations given as a means to support this mission.

Description

The Volunteer Services Council relies on donations of durable goods and monetary contributions to provide clothing and other means of support to our indigent consumers. The Council provides everyday items to the less fortunate consumers at no charge. The Shop also sells donated goods to staff members and visitors from the community. The VSC also provides each resident of the facility with a birthday and Christmas present, as well as gives financial support for on-campus enrichment programs that teach or train a skill, as well as sponsors off-campus picnics, backyard cookouts, sporting events and various other forms of entertainment. Funds are also obtained through various fundraisers sponsored by the Board.
