To successfully serve children and their families challenged by social and psychological needs.
Tanager Place is accredited and licensed as a Psychiatric Medical Institution for Children (PMIC); providing inpatient services to children and adolescents ranging in age from five to seventeen. Comprehensive services are provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Tanager campus encompasses 24 acres, on campus there are six cottages serving 68 children. Treatment philosophy incorporates cognitive/behavioral theory, relationship based and solution focused/time-limited principles, implemented within non-institutionalized therapeutic treatment milieus' and individual, group, expressive arts, and family therapy modalities.
Client diagnostic presentations include, but are not limited to: attentional and disruptive behavioral disorders, mood disorders, interpersonal and learning difficulties, anxiety and personality disorders, and emotional and developmental difficulties associated with abuse and /or neglect.
Treatment involves an integration of therapies implemented through multiple environments and activities . Services at Tanager Place are multidisciplinary, incorporating psychiatric, psychological and nursing services, individual psychotherapy, group and family therapy, recreation, art, music and drama therapy, and educational services. Clients may be involved in several or all of these services. The client and family treatment plan integrates and coordinates all of the applicable services toward the end of creating an environment conducive to psychological and psychosocial growth, including family reintegration or client successful integration into a lower level of care.
The goal of all programs at Tanager Place is to assure the development and fulfillment of each child's potential. Treatment focuses on strengths rather than deficits, emphasizing a positive self-image and mastery of skills needed to become productive and caring adults.
