Mission Statement

The Our Daily Bread Employment Center is a program of Catholic Charities. The mission of Catholic Charities is threefold: provide healing and care to those in need; educate people to social awareness and motivate them to act; and advocate for public policy that ensures a just society.

Catholic Charities is the leading private provider of human services in Maryland , widely known for creative and compassionate care-giving and for developing programs aimed at self sufficiency. In cherishing the Divine within, regardless of faith, we improve lives by offering meaningful help and hope so that every person can realize her or his full potential.

The Our Daily Bread Employment Center improves the lives of people in need by providing resources to help them achieve self-sufficiency through employment and housing. As Baltimore's comprehensive resource center for people who are poor, we combine the Our Daily Bread hot meal program, Christopher Place Employment Academy the Maryland Re-entry Partnership, case management, and an array of unemployment, education, referral and emergency services.

Our Daily Bread Employment Center is a new facility with a dining room that is beautiful and practical for the many volunteers needed each day. Those who come to be fed are considered guests. Upon arrival they are immediately seated at a round table with five other guests and they are served the meal of the day, bread, tea and dessert. All new volunteers receive a thorough orientation on the day they first serve so that everyone knows exactly what to do. Serving at Our Daily Bread was a privilege and working with others who treated the guests as persons of dignity filled my husband and myself with great joy.
