Mission Statement

The PTC's primary mission is to promote and restore responsibility and decency to the entertainment industry in answer to America's demand for positive, family-oriented television programming. The PTC does this by fostering changes in TV programming to make the early hours of prime time family-friendly and suitable for viewers of all ages.

Description

The Los Angeles office of the Parents Television Council is seeking volunteers to aid in its mission of protecting children against sex, violence and profanity in entertainment. Scientific studies have shown that children can be negatively affected by violent or sexual program content. The PTC is an organization of concerned citizens who strive to encourage responsible behavior by the entertainment industry, with a special emphasis on television programming.

Volunteers will aid the PTC by contacting corporations that sponsor offensive programming, writing letters, and performing light clerical duties. This is a wonderful opportunity for students seeking to fulfill required school volunteer hours, homemakers or retirees with free time, or anyone concerned about the state of entertainment today.

The PTC's headquarters are located in downtown Los Angeles. If you are not located in Southern California but would like to take part in the PTC's mission, please click on the Local Chapters tab to find a chapter near you, or become a member by clicking on the Join Us tab.
