This is the best program because they do more than just feed people in need. They help individuals and families in many other ways. They also have expectations of people such as operating in an atmosphere of respect and if someone shows up for a meal intoxicated they will offer them a bag lunch and ask them to try again tomorrow. The organization has amazing leadership and more than 170 volunteer groups help make it happen which lends credibility to how the community feels about the New Community Shelter and the meal program. I also love that the shelter does not duplicate services, and they have never turned anyone away because of lack of food! They have never missed a meal ever since they started, and shelter residents who are homeless adults have chores to do such as doing all the cleanup from dinner! This also gives them experience they can use for employment if they choose to work in the industry!! This is a fantastic organization and I shop at Walmart because they support it!
