Mission Statement

Southeast European Film Festival educates about the cultural diversity of Southeast Europe and fosters cultural exchange through its annual presentations of films from this region. Throughout the year the program offers individual screenings and promotes SEE films at other festivals, organizes seminars and lectures, and creates opportunities for cultural exchange between Southern California and Southeast Europe.

Description

The South East European Film Festival is the first, and only festival of its kind in the U.S. It is a non-profit film festival that pioneered the representation of cinema from SE European countries.

The festival not only finds and screens the most cutting edge artistic films from South East Europe, it also offers a unique, global perspective on issues of heritage, cultural identity and the struggle with divisions within the region.

The South East European Film Festival is held every year over the first weekend in May, Thursday - Monday (May1-5, 2008) at the Goethe Institute Los Angeles, 5750 Wilshire Blvd. (Wilshire Court Building in the Miracle Mile area between Fairfax and La Brea).
