Mission Statement

The mission of Metroport Meals On Wheels is to be a grassroots volunteer advocate for the elderly and those in need through home-delivered meals, senior center lunch and activity programs and other support services.

Description

Metroport Meals On Wheels provides services to individuals in need regardless of age or financial circumstances. There are no waiting lists and no red tape. Our programs nourish active seniors, the elderly, chronically ill and disabled with food for the body, and more importantly, care and compassion for the soul.

What began as concerned volunteers delivering home-cooked meals to five elderly neighbors in 1980, soon grew into a strong, grassroots organization dedicated to the philosophy of neighbors helping neighbors. Today, by partnering with cities, local restaurants and volunteers, Metroport Meals On Wheels delivers meals to citizens in 20 cities and provides senior center luncheons in seven cities. New communities added as the need for MMOW's services are identified.
