Company History: The initial Shelter Listings website was www.ShelterListings.com After officially incorporating as a nonprofit on January 9th, 2008 it was decided that a .org top-level domain name was more appropriate. The majority of the database was built within a 9 month time frame and consisted of over a thousand phone calls and emails. On March 31st, 2008 we filed for a 501(c)3 and received a letter of determination on September 26th, 2008.

• Database for Our Clients: Our housing database is used by other nonprofits as well as individuals and families seeking shelter. With nearly 3,000 listings nation-wide we maintain the largest group of housing programs on the Internet for the homeless and low-income .

• Database for Webmasters: Our housing database can be easily embedded into any website. Interested parties simply copy and paste html code. The code is displayed on the "Use Our Database" page of our website.

• Housing Search: We receive a consistent flow of emails from individuals and families searching for housing. When we lack a reasonable amount of listings in a specific area we start a search. The information gathered is then forwarded to our client and added to our database.

• Grants/Vouchers: Due to financial issues some of our clients are not able to travel to housing programs that have room for them and many of them don't have food or shelter while they remain on waiting lists. It is our goal to eventually provide grants and vouchers with a screening process to individuals and families with desperate need.
