With dignity and respect, MEND’s mission is to meet immediate needs of individuals and families and increase their access to opportunities that strengthen their capacity to thrive
Born as a volunteer-powered organization 40 years ago in a garage in suburbia, MEND today utilizes more than 3,000 volunteers (and only 25 paid staff) to implement its holistic programs that provide food, clothing, medical, dental and vision care; job training, classes in English as a Second Language, literacy, computers, office skills, sewing and parenting; math, reading and science tutoring for kids; hot meals, food, clothing and showers for the homeless and a community-wide adopt-a-family Christmas Program.

Amazing organization. They truly care for the community and their staff is great! I volunteered with them as a tutor a couple years ago and still hold a warm spot in my heart for them. Truly a life changing experience. Highly recommend getting involved and volunteering with them.

Well ran organization, they will not waste your time! Also because of the vast array of services they offer there are a wide range of volunteer opportunities, i.e. medical/dental, fundraising, food pantry, clothing store, working with youth, and more.
