Description

Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland serves more than 17,000 girls and adults in 80 Kansas counties through its operational headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, and regional offices in Emporia, Garden City, Hays, and Salina.

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Girl Scouting is open to all girls 5-17 regardless of race, creed, nationality or soci0-economic status. There are six Girl Scouting age levels:

  • Daisy Girl Scouts- Kindergarten- grade 1
  • Brownie Girl Scouts- grades 2-3
  • Junior Girl Scouts- grades 4-5
  • Cadette Girl Scouts- grades 6-8
  • Senior Girl Scouts- grades 9-10
  • Ambassador Girl Scouts- 11-12

Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to:

  • shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best.
  • help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math.
  • choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles.
  • provide short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls.
