Mission Statement

Magic Moments is an Alabama-based non-profit organization which grants non-medical wishes to Alabama children ages 4-18 who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

In addition, the organization provides special individual camp experiences and family camp sessions for children who were granted magic moments.

Magic Moments is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. We are not affiliated with any other wish-granting organization, and we are not a United Way agency. Magic Moments is dependent upon the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations, and civic groups for our funding.

Description

Magic Moments was founded by a mother, Shelley Clark, who saw a program on television about a sick little boy whose dream was to ride on a fire truck. Shelley, whose own daughter was awaiting a liver transplant, thought that Alabama should have a program that would help children such as this little boy. With a lot of hard work and $500 seed money from the Birmingham Junior League, Magic Moments was born in October, 1984. During the first three months of inception, Magic Moments granted three magic moments. Now in its 29th year of operation, Magic Moments has granted over 4,000 magic moments in all 67 Alabama counties.
