The Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children is an umbrella non-profit organization for programs that serve to bring about healing to children and adults who are victims of crime and to facilitate change to end violence through advocacy, collaboration, and community awareness.

Description

The Advocacy Center for Crime Victims & Children is a 501(c)(3) private nonprofit umbrella agency that includes the following programs: Victims'Center (VC), Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), and Children's Advocacy Center (CAC). The Victim's Center (VC) provides a 24-hour crisis hotline as well as counseling and case management for crime victims. Sexual Assualt Nurse Examiners are untilized to minimize a victim's time spent in an emergency room. Additionally, community education programs and a volunteer program is available. The Victim's Center serves McLennan, Hill, Bosque, Limestone and Freestone counties. The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program provides trained volunteer advocates for children in state care and independent investigation of neglected/abused children. CASAs are supervised volunteers who act as a liason to the court and can be called on to testify. The CASA program serves McLennan and Hill counties. The Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) provides a helping hand to hurting children by minimizing their amount of time involved in the investigation and judicial process. The CAC provides the following: forensic interviews, multidisciplinary weekly case tracking, forensic medical examinations, case management and counseling. The Children's Advocacy Center serves McLennan County.
