Mission Statement
Through the work of the Sanctuary and its education, adoption and spay/neuter programs, the mission of the St. Francis Animal Sanctuary is to help bring about a time when no homeless, unwanted animals are being destroyed in shelters and when every dog and cat born can be guaranteed a good life in a good home.
Description
St. Francis Animal Sanctuary is the largest no-kill facility in the Southeastern United States. This 50-acre refuge is home to abandoned and abused animals until such time that they are rehabilitated, healed and readied for lives in safe and loving homes. The Sanctuary is necessary because although there has been a significant reduction in the number of animals destroyed in shelters and pounds (17 million in 1987 to approximately 2.5 million today), the founders of St. Francis want to see this number continue to diminish with increased adoptions, spay/neuter, education and public awareness programs.
