Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
This is the 15th annual Tabor House GIANT Tag sale, to benefit the two homes in Hartford for men and women living with AIDS. This event also benefits the newly arrived immigrants and the poor people of the community who need to purchase items for their residences. It also serves the environment by offering only recycled, used items for resale. It also serves the corporate community--is the past years, we have had over 150 volunteers from Aetna, Travelers, CIGNA, The Hartford, UTC, Bank of America et al assist with the setup efforts the week prior to the event. Every cent of the proceeds goes to Tabor House.
Tabor House is a home founded in 1991, by Sister Laura Herold. Sister Laura hoped Tabor House would transfigure those infected with AIDS from sickness to health, from loneliness to love, from despair to self-respect and
optimism. Many of those afflicted with HIV/AIDS are the least able to care for themselves. Rejected by their families, they move in and out of shelters and onto the streets, lacking consistent medical care and attention. Many suffer with co-occurring conditions such as mental illness or substance abuse.
