Mission Statement

The mission of the Society shall be the collection, preservation, and diissemination of knowledge about the history of the City of Fridley to current and past City residents, Fridley school children and to other historical societies, libraries, museums and researchers.

Description

This Society operates the Fridley History Center, a local history museum in a renovated 1931 two-room, two level schoolhouse. It is the only local community history museum in a county (Anoka) with 21 cities. The Society also operates the Fridley Hall of Fame and presents 13 special events for the community annually, including producing 7 History Conversations for local cable TV . There is no paid staff. Volunteers contribute 2,500 hours of service annually. The Society's website is www.fridleyhistory.org. The Society is governed by a board of 11 directors that meet monthly. There are 9 committees including Archives, City History, Finance, Fundraising, Hall of Fame, Membership, Newsletter & PR, Nominating, and Programs & Events. Our newslettter, "The Record," is published monthly. We are currently in the process of publishing a book on Fridley's history.
