Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a safe shelter for homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. We will also provide emotional support and resources to help LGBTQ youth develop the skills needed to live independently. Proud Haven will be a leading resource for shelter and support services that improve the quality of life for homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth as well as an advocate for the LGBTQ population as a whole.

Description

We are working to open the first homeless shelter geared toward LGBTQ youth in Pittsburgh. There is a real need for a safe and welcoming place as these youth are often preyed upon in shelters. We will provide a safe space while working with the youth to help them develop the skills they need to eventually live independently. We need to get the word out, advocate, raise funds, and secure a location.
