Compeer Helena's mission is to improve the quality of life for people recovering from mental illness through the power and gift of friendship!

Description

Making Friends, Changing Lives

Compeer screens and trains volunteers and then matches them with people who have a mental illness and are in mental health treatment. Volunteers commit to meeting with their "friends" for at least 4 hours a month. Matches are based on mutual interests, similar ages and same gender.

Volunteers spend time with their friends going out for coffee, meals, concerts,art galleries or just talking on the phone.Being a Compeer volunteer is fun and flexible. Volunteers choose what type of match they want and time to meet, just as you would with any friendship.

Friendship is powerful medicine.
