Mission Statement

The William Averette Anderson Fund -- often referred to as the Bill Anderson Fund (BAF) -- is a vibrant national non-profit organization that works to increase the number of African Americans and members of other underrepresented groups in professional hazard and disaster mitigation careers.

Description

The core work of BAF now is to facilitate a successful graduate school experience for members of our Student Council -- students who are pursuing masters and doctoral degrees in hazard and disaster mitigation education and research. BAF reaches out to thousands of graduate students and young professionals across the country - in dozens of majors and career fields. Whether they are in the sciences, the humanities, medicine, finance, social work or other fields, we help them discover the possibilities of making a real and lasting difference -- to study and work with marginalized communities that have experienced debilitating hazards and disasters like hurricanes, floods and oil spills.
