Mission Statement

AMAR's role is to bring public health and education to people who need it in areas where governments and the private sector lack capacity, and to work with local authorities to create structures and systems for the long term, built on a foundation of excellence and experience. Today AMAR delivers over one million medical consultations each year in Iraq and Lebanon through a network of 35 health centers, benefiting a catchment area of over 600,000 men, women and children. AMAR's purpose is to relieve poverty, distress or suffering by providing medical, rehabilitative, financial, public health or educational assistance to individuals or communities in any part of the world, in particular, victims of war, civil disturbance, natural disaster or breaches of human rights.

The general membership of each ASC shall be formed of volunteers acting in aid of AMAR, who will meet at least quarterly.

ASC support AMAR through:

- Host fundraising events

- Provide ideas and advice on fundraising, public awareness and future development of the ASC

- Participation in public discussions and seminars on health and education in the Middle East

- Raising awareness about current events in areas where AMAR works

Members of the ASC focus on growing the base of the organization by creating, organizing and marketing events and developing partnership/sponsorship opportunities.

Applicants with event planning or development experience, passion to work in the humanitarian nonprofit sector and social service, and the ability to commit to at least one year of volunteer service will be favored.
