The mission of the ALAC is to prevent of lung disease and promote lung health.
The American Lung Association is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the ALA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, COPD, tobacco control, and environmental health. The work of the ALA is accomplished through the efforts of thousands of committed volunteers and staff throughout the nation. The ALA has many programs and strategies for fighting lung disease including education, advocacy, and research.
