Mission Statement: To assist frail elderly senior citizens living alone in the community to stay healthy and to continue living in their homes independently as long as possible while at the same time providing opportunities for socialization, escorted transportation, and support.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Senior Outreach Services (SOS), Sanford Center for Aging, UNR

The Senior Outreach Services (SOS) program is all about volunteerism. If you have an interest in making a difference in the lives of the elders in Washoe County, SOS needs you. These are seniors needing essential services, socialization, emotional support, and transportation for medical appointments and essential errands. These seniors may have no family or other support system.

The program goal is to assist seniors aging in place, and to avoid a costly alternative for both the elder and the taxpayer.
