Description
Founded seventy-five years ago, the League of United Latin American Citizen's (LULAC) is the oldest and largest direct-membership Hispanic advocacy organization in the USA. LULAC has a history of commitment to the education of Hispanics and other minorities. In 1968, a San Francisco LULAC council developed a financial aid and college admissions outreach program to assist academically gifted, but disadvantaged, low-income youth to gain college admissions. Through a federal grant, in 1972, LULAC established LULAC's National Educational Services Center (LNESC) as a separately incorporated entity with its own governing board and independent control over its programs. Kansas City, MO's LNESC has been serving the community for over twenty years.
