Description

Gallatin Shalom Zone is engaged in beaking the cycle of poverty by helping to shape the lives of our less- fortunate neighbors. To acheive this, we are currently in the process of renovating the old Union High School in Clearview Heights and transforming it into th Union High Resource Center, a "one-stop-shop" for assistance and social services which, when completed by december 2008, will offer a wide variety of programs and services including:Affordable Day Care; Adult learning Center featuring GED and English as a second language classes; After School Care; Mentoring and Enrichment for At-Risk Children; medical screenings; Wellness Clinics; A Parenting Resource Center; Youth Programs sponsored by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; An Internal Library, tuition and study space; Computer Literacy Classes; Youth Recreational Activities.

In Phase I, fundraising allowed us to make significant improvements to the building. Phase II is now underway and progress on the interior renovation and decoration will allow us to open part of the building to our committed tenants well ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, the fundraising continues to ensure completion by the year's end.
