Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure a productive community of inter-generational Gambian immigrants in New York City who would contribute to the city culturally and economically. We want to build bridges with other neighbors, local businesses, inistitutions and other community-oriented organizations.

Description

Our program objectives this year are:

  • To facilitate an after-school enrichment program for inner-city youth, this would include tutoring, mentoring and career support.
  • To organize health seminars, on topics such as blood pressure, high cholestorol. diabetes and heart failure.
  • To bring women of the community together by organizing trips, having baking/icing classes, make-up sessions, sports field days and "therapy" sessions.

That was an endearing event filled with fun activities, good food and most of all a nice warmed group of people. The event was well planned and organized. I will definitively do it again.

I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and absolutely loved working with the kids. I look forward to building toys with the children again. I loved every minute of it and cant wait to do it again!!
