Mission Statement

The Psychotherapy Institute (TPI) is a nonprofit multi-disciplinary organization of mental health professionals dedicated to community service and professional education. Since 1972, TPI has provided affordable in-depth psychotherapy to San Francisco Bay Area residents as well as continuing education and advanced training to psychotherapists. The organization has an ongoing commitment to multiculturalism and creating an environment in which the needs of diverse cultures are recognized and respected. A membership and volunteer run organization, TPI currently has more than 400 members, 150 of whom regularly donate their time to help the organization accomplish its mission.

Description

The Psychotherapy Institute, established in 1971, is a community mental health agency that offers low fee psychotherapy to adult individuals and couples. Many of the people we serve require ongoing counseling and support to function effectively in their jobs and their relationships. Trainees and supervisors donate their time to the agency. Our patient fees are on a sliding-scale based on income, making ongoing psychotherapy accessible to those with limited resources.
