Susan Marshall & Company

Description

Susan Marshall & Company was founded in 1982 to create, teach, and perform dance and multidisciplinary performance works cho reographed and directed by Susan Marshall. Since then, the company has produced over forty works, and staged over a dozen home seasons in New York (six as part of the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival and six at Dance Theater Workshop). The company has also been featured in the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, the Festival International de Nouvelle Danse in Montreal, Spoleto Festival, and Vienna Tanz, and has performed nationally at Lincoln Center, the Hanscher Auditorium (University of Iowa), Krannert Center for the Arts, the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts (Bard College), and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. The company has toured to Eastern Europe, and selections from the company's BESSIE Award-winning work Cloudless were presented at Pina Bausch's 2008 Internationales Tanzfestival. Marshall's work has been set on Lyon Opera Ballet, Frankfurt Ballet and in 2011, Arms (1984) was set on Nederlands Dans Theater for their 2012/13 season.
