Mission Statement

Our Purpose / We serve working dogs by teaching the human end of the leash to decode animal perceptions and responses to stimuli. Our progressive, research-based training translates theory into practice, empowering people to truly collaborate with their canine partners.

Description

K9Sensus originated as Paws of Life (PoL), a nonprofit organization established in 2003 that focused primarily on educating K9 handlers of search and rescue (SAR) dogs. The organization reached hundreds of handlers in states across North America, teaching dog/human teams to search for lost hunters, missing children, and Alzheimer patients who wandered from their care facilities. PoL provided training opportunities for law enforcement and other working canine disciplines, and contributed significantly to canine working teams.

In 2017, Robin Greubel embarked on a journey to grow the organization and focus on all working dogs, training the other end of the leash to better serve and collaborate with our canine partners. The ultimate objective of K9Sensus is to build a state-of-the-art, world-class training facility on the land Greubel owns with her husband in Lucas, Iowa; a portion of training proceeds and all fundraising will contribute to that initiative.
