The mission of the Alzheimer's Network of Oregon is to support the educational, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals with Alzheimer's disease, their families and caregivers as well as raise public awareness of the disease in Marion, Polk, Linn and Benton Counties.

Description

Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. It is a progressive, degenerative disorder that attacks the brain's nerve cells resulting in loss of memory, thinking and language skills and behavioral changes. Alzheimer's currently affects an estimated five million Americans and the number is expected to triple by mid-century. One in ten americans aged 65 or older and nearly half of those 85 or older are stricken with this disease.
