The mission of KALLC is to assist refugee and immigrant students in acquiring sufficient language proficiency and independent learning strategies to become engaged participants in American schools and their wider community while promoting Arabic language and culture.
Kent Arabic Language Learner Classes were established to provide students the opportunity to grasp the academic, social and cultural aspects of the Arabic language through the teaching of reading, writing, spelling and listening. The goal of the KALLC program is to help students develop language skills necessary to be successful students and members of society. We believe this can be done most effectively by meeting the following objectives:
- to nurture self-pride and self-identity in student's linguistic and cultural heritage.
- to develop proficiency in the Arabic language
- to reach a level of proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening as outlined by the Washington State K-12 World Languages Learning Standards
