Community SOLUTIONS provides specialized services for the prison family. The child of a prisoner is typically our initial enrollee, thereby enabling us to serve their caretaker and other famly members, including returning prisoner family members.

There are over 7500 children of prisoners in the El Paso community. Most often these children and their families become a hidden population, withdrawing and isolating from the mainstream community.

This social isolation leads to emotional isolation. With no appropriate emotional outlets, children of prisoners often seek gangs for a sense of belonging, drugs and alcohol to numb emotional pain and even violence to express their outrage. Incredibly, children of prisoners are at as much as 70% risk for becoming prisoners themselves.

Families of prisoners experience extreme stress and anxiety, often leading to unproductive coping measures and even physical and mental health disorders.

Community SOLUTIONS strives to minimize the tragic reactions to the incarceration of a loved one with programming addressing the unique needs of the prison family.
