Mission Statement

It is the mission of HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc. to provide quality hospice services and education to patients with life limiting illnesses, their families and the community regardless of ability to pay.

Description

The word "hospice" is derived from the Greek word "hos" meaning a place of shelter or rest. The words"hospital" and "hospitality" evolved form the same origin. Today, the word "hospice" is used to describe a specialized program of care for patients and families who are facing end of life and the important decissions that must be made at this very important time.

Hospice Care of Southeast Florida, Inc. was incorporated in 1981, and provides a full program of medical and supportive services to the families in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Hospice care is structured to not only enable family members to be the primary caregivers, but to allow the family and patient to function as a "unit" enjoyinga relatively normal lifestyle in their own home.

Hospice Care of Southeast Florida, Inc is a non-profit corporation managed by our Executive Director/CEO whi is directly responsible to the volunteer Board of Directors. Program services are provided by an interdisciplinary team under the direction of the patient's primary care physician and under that supervision of the Senior Medical Director.
