Mission Statement

We serve immigrants in detention in the Pacific Northwest through assistance, increased awareness and advocacy.

Description

The Advocate for Immigrans in Detention Northwest (AID NW) is dedicated to serving detained immigrants at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC). When an immigrant is unable to hear the voices of family and friends, we end that silence. When an immigrant does not have anyone able to visit, we end that isolation. When an immigrant is released from NWDC detention, hundreds or even thousands of miles from friends or families, we provide a safe, supportive living environment until reunification with those loved ones can happen. When a detained immigrant is identified as eligible for release from detention, we work to obtain that release, including sponsorship when the immigrant has no one else to rely upon. With our incredibly dedicated staff and volunteers, AID NW offers immigrants a touch of humanity during and post-detention.
