Mission Statement

The Progress Fund's mission is to create jobs in southwestern and northern Pennsylvania, all of West Virginia, and Appalachian Ohio by providing capital and entreprenurial coaching to small businesses in the travel and tourism industry.

Description

The Progress Fund's Trail Town Program is an economic development initiative along the Great Allegheny Passage. The Passage is a 150-mile hike/bike trail that connects Pittsburgh, PA and Cumberland, MD. The Trail Town Program works with communities and small businesses located along the trail to ensure that they reap the economic benefits of trail-based tourism and recreation. Created in 2007, the program focuses its efforts on six PA trailside communities: West Newton, Connellsville, Ohiopyle, Confluence, Rockwood and Meyersdale. Complete program information can be found at www.trailtowns.org.
