East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP) offers a variety of volunteer opportunities through our public charter schools, after-school, and summer programs. The programs range from subject-matter tutoring, providing scholars with homework help, mentoring, and preparing high school scholars for college success. Volunteers support our scholars, prepare them for academic success, encourage their social enrichment, and help them gain skills. Check out our volunteer options below: Classroom Buddies, Elementary Program - Volunteers support one of our Kindergarten-5th grade after-school classrooms and help foster a positive classroom culture by: Supporting with operational tasks i.e. taking attendance and grading Engaging in fun classroom enrichment activities with scholars Completing homework assignments alongside scholars Minimum Commitment 2 shifts per week When : Monday - Thursday, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. & Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (start and end times dependent on site and when you can arrive) Road to Success - Volunteers support one of our 6th-8th grade after-school classrooms during enrichment clubs (i.e. Comic Book Club, Science Club, Dance Club, and others) and an active hour of structured activities and games Minimum Commitment : 2 shifts per week When : Monday - Thursday, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. & Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (start and end times dependent on site and when you can arrive) Classroom Buddies, High School Program - Volunteers support a high school after-school elective (Coding, Photography, Robotics, Creative Writing) by: Supporting with operational tasks i.e. taking attendance, reviewing student work, and troubleshooting tech issues Modeling a positive classroom culture by supporting activities, building relationships with scholars, and engaging them with class content Minimum Commitment : 1 shift per week When : Days of the week to be determined, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Academic Tutoring - Volunteers support our K-12th grade scholars succeed in various subjects (Math, English, Science, History), while in a one-on-one setting. Volunteers should feel confident tutoring and have demonstrated success in a Kindergarten - 12th grade level subject. Minimum Commitment : Once a week for at least 1-hour per semester When : Days of the week to be determined, 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. All prospective volunteers must apply using the online application: http://bttr.im/ubhw2 Acceptance is contingent upon successful completion of medical and criminal background checks.
