The vision of the Lyceum is a civil society that has leaders with disabilities and leaders without disabilities at all levels of government, non-profits, or in the general public, who reach across diverse perspectives and philosophies to work together in the advancement of the best possible civic society; who meet regularly at affable, bridge building, and intellectual forums to discuss and create sound public policy; and who hope to create a more inclusive society.
The Mid-Atlantic Lyceum is a non-profit organization that primarily focuses on animal law and disability issues, but touches on all social, legal, and civil rights issues affecting the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Mid-Atlantic Lyceum works with the Maryland State Bar Association, particularly the animal law section to sponsor a variety of events in which students, law students and practitioners in the legal field can come together to discuss these issues. One of its flagship events is the annual MSBA Animal Law Symposium which is hosted annually by the Lyceum and the Maryland State Bar Association.
The Mid-Atlantic Lyceum also publishes an annual journal, the Mid-Atlantic Journal on Law and Public Policy. This journal features articles written by both students and legal practitioners discussing animal law, disability and civil rights issues.
