Mission Statement

The not-for-profit research described on this website is being conducted by the Relman Lab at Stanford University in collaboration with clinicians at UCSF. We seek to define the role that saliva plays in maintaining human oral health. We are particularly interested in understanding how reduced salivary function, or hyposalivation, impacts human oral microbial communities, predisposing patients who experience chronic hyposalivation, to oral disease. Our purpose is to gain knowledge, and make it freely available, so that we and others can develop new effective interventions for improving health and treating oral disease.

Description

This is a clinical research volunteer opportunity. We are looking for research participants who are interested in learning about the human oral microbiome.
