Description
The SURE Helpline Crisis Center has been a support system to the Imperial Valley for 37 years. The Sure Helpline Crisis Center offers 24 hour a day 7 days a week over the phone para-professional counseling. Our crisis line operators include both staff and volunteers trained in dealing with a variety of situations including; drug and alcohol abuse, sexual assault, shelter and runaway services, suicide prevention, and grief. In addition our agency serves as the Imperial Valley's only Rape Crisis Center. We offer in person counseling, support groups, and advocacy to victims. We are proud to be a component of the Sexual Assault Response Team, a post assault task force composed of a nurse examiner, law enforcement, the victim, and the victim's advocate. Advocacy means our trained staff and volunteers go hand in hand with sexual assault survivors through the post assault process. This includes the medical examination, court proceedings, and counseling. Our agency believes that treatment should coincide with prevention. In this spirit SURE Helpline is constantly making presentations and holding workshops, and support groups across the Valley. Our presentations cover a wide variety of subjects including drug and alcohol abuse, date rape, teen age pregnancy, bullying, self esteem, domestic violence, anger management, masculinity, conflict resolution, spousal rape, dating violence and many others.
