The vision of the Martin Luther King Health Center is to improve the health of the community and the patients we serve; and meet the demand for high quality comprehensive healthcare services in a cost-effective manner.
The mission of the Martin Luther King Health Center is to extend comprehensive primary healthcare and pharmacy services at no cost to uninsured or underinsured patients with chronic illness who forgo routine medical care because of a lack of resources.
The primary goal is to address the unmet healthcare & pharmacy needs of the medically disenfranchised residents of northwest Louisiana.
The Martin Luther King Health Center & Pharmacy (MLK Health), founded in 1986 by Dr. Robert H. Jackson, is a non-profit primary care health center and charitable pharmacy that provides services to patients who are uninsured or under-insured and who do not qualify for government sponsored insurance programs.
All services are free of charge & the center receives no funding from federal or state agencies to provide health care nor does it receive reimbursement from private or government sponsored insurance. Funding is secured primarily through foundations, grants and donations from individual donors.
Health care providers and pharmacists donate their time. The center provides services through partnerships, all of which must be patient-centered, provide for a continuum of integrated care, be collaborative, utilize best practices & evidence-based care, be efficient, be accountable and be sustainable.
