Mission Statement
The City of Phoenix Homeland Defense Bureau Community Emergency Response Team Program provides free Community Preparadness/ disaster response training to any citizen who is interested in taking care of their families and community in the event of human or naturally caused disaster.
Description
The Community Emergency Response Team training was developed by the Los Angeles Fire Department in 1983 to train citizens in disaster response incorporating 20 hours of class room education and hands on skills training including: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Disaster Medical Operations, Light Search and Rescue, CERT Organization, Disaster Psychology, and Terrorism and CERT.
Upon completion of the basic CERT course the graduate can continue on with additonal training to become a CERT volunteer.
