The Friends of the Historical Museum, Inc., also known as the Friends, is a corporation organized for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes that includes the following:
To promote appreciation of history;
To develop and perform fund-raising projects primarily in support of the Idaho State Historical Museum and Old Penitentiary.
To perform service activities for the benefit of the Museums.
To promote preservation of historical records and items pertaining to Idaho history for the appreciation and education of the public.
The Friends will be opening the doors to a whole now range of Volunteer opportunity’s with the expansion of the historical museum. We have many new docent positions opening up and with educational programs for school children and adults.
The Friends host and assist at fund raising events at the Museum and Old Penitentiary.
Facilitate and raise funds for the Ray Knight Scholarship Fund that provides transportation to the Capitol and tickets to the Historical and Old Penitentiary museums.
