Mission Statement

It is the mission of ALSO (Adult Learning Systems of Oregon, Inc.) to promote the full inclusion of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in the life of their community.

The organization is more than a means of support to some, place to work for others and community connection for many, it?s an extension of family to all those that allow it to touch their heart.

Description

ALSO is a not for profit organization that provides supported living, residential and vocational services to people with developmental challenges. We have been providing services to low-to- moderate income adults with developmental disabilities locally in the Portland Metro area since 1988.. It is our duty to uphold our core values by providing competent, caring and quality services to the people we support. We operate over 25 sites and support over 80 adults that require full or part time services. We offer a variety of programs that promote independence, being a part of the community, job development, job placement and an art studio where everyone has an opportunity to be creative.

ALSO employees are dedicated to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for the people we support. Our talented Direct Support Professionals attend on-going rigorous training programs and must undergo an extensive background check before becoming an ALSO employee. Our employees are some of the best in the industry and are devoted to providing the best support system available. We promote diversity, growth opportunities and integrity.

We rely on state and county funding as well as donors to support our efforts. As state funding becomes more restricted we have recently initiated our fundraising efforts by hosting a variety of events to raise awareness and the needed funds. We are always in need of volunteers, business/corporate sponsors and donations.
