Mission Statement

Precious Paws is a no-kill shelter that is 100% volunteer run whose mission is to prevent and alleviate animal suffering through shelter, adoption, education, and community outreach; to support the enforcement of animal welfare laws and state statutes, and to strengthen the human/animal bond.

Precious Paws Humane Society of Chisholm was originally started back in 1993 as the Hibbing Animal Shelter and later became the Hibbing Animal Shelter d/b/a Precious Paws when we moved from Hibbing, Minnesota to Chisholm, Minnesota. Our contract area covers the communities of Chisholm, Keewatin, and Nashwauk, Minnesota. We serve hundreds of abandoned, abused, lost, and surrendered animals a year. If needed, these animals receive all medical procedures necessary to get them to an adoptable state, including spay/neuter and all vaccinations. Precious Paws hosts annual rabies clinics at the shelter with Dr. Amanda Bruce of PetCare of Duluth, Minnesota, where local residents are offered a discounted rate for rabies vaccinations for their pets. We partner monthly with Northland Spay and Neuter Commuter of Duluth to offer affordable spay/neuter options to local residents. We submit articles to our area’s newspapers educating, advocating, and promoting the benefits of spaying and neutering your pets and the importance of getting them up to date on their vaccinations. We participate in area events so as to get the word out about responsible pet ownership. We participate in annual adoption events every year.
