Description

The Tonto National Forest is dedicated to multiple use by the public on nearly 3 million acres, located north and east of the greater Phoenix metro area. The Tonto encompasses the Salt and Verde Rivers and their watersheds and "chains of lakes". The Tonto reaches from the Mogollon Rim to the north, the Fort Apache and San Carlos Reservations to the east, Phoenix/Mesa/Apache Junction to the south, and nearly I-17 to the west.
