Mission Statement

The mission of Disability Rights North Carolina is to protect the legal rights of people with disabilities through individual and systems advocacy.

Description

Disability Rights North Carolina is a non-profit law firm that serves as this state's Protection and Advocacy Agency ("P&A"). Each state has a P&A, which is federally funded and has a congressional mandate to protect and advocate on behalf of people with disabilities. We work with parents and students on special education issues, help people access the services they are entitled to receive and to live in communities of their choice, and investigate abuse, neglect or exploitation of persons with disabilties.
