Mission Statement

Night Owls serves families with children with special needs in the greater Denver area, providing respite for the parents and caregivers and fun and care for their children ages 12 and under.

Description

On specific Friday evenings, Night Owl volunteers create a fun, engaging environment at the Fisher Early Learning Center where children with special needs under the age of 12 and their siblings under the age of 12 can come to play for the evening while their hardworking parents and caregivers get a night out. Night Owls is held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Each child gets his or her own adult friend for the evening with whom they participate in pre-planned activities as the child chooses. Volunteer training is provided so volunteers do not need experience working with children in order to volunteer. They must simply have a desire to help make life a little better for these families. Nurses are onsite each evening to administer medical care and ensure the comfort of all participants.
