THIS POSITION As a small nonprofit with BIG ideas, we need help from our community. We are seeking assistance with grant research, organization, and editing. Our Grant Assistant support through conducting research, editing current grants, and organizing past grant applications. After a period of 2-3 months, Assistants with strong writing skills may be offered the opportunity to draft original content and design specific applications. Our ideal candidate: Is looking to learn about the grant writing process, Has exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, Has a strong command of the English language, Will commit to our mission and goals, Will support a culture that encourages staff to ask questions and challenge assumptions, and Will preferably develop funding support by identifying sponsorship prospects, making introductions, and articulating the case for support.

Development and Marketing Internship Virtual & hybrid options available Flexible scheduling Networking opportunities Potential for part-time employment Resounding Joy enhances the human experience with therapeutic applications of music. We uplift individuals and families with challenging conditions, help them achieve their goals, and support health and wellness throughout the community. Our music therapists are highly-trained professionals, who after graduating with an approved degree in music therapy, complete a 1,200-hour internship and a challenging national board certification test. Music therapists’ education encompasses biology, psychology, and neurology, as well as training in voice, guitar, piano, percussion, and often other instruments to accommodate various evidence-based interventions. We offer our powerful and cost-effective music therapy services through three main programs: The Ariana Miller Healing Notes program for hospitalized/medically resilient children or children with disabilities, The Semper Sound program for military service members, veterans, and their families, and Community Connections, an inclusive service to any population in need - most recently isolated older adults, first responders, and unhoused individuals. Essential Functions: This internship will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to grow and build a foundation in the marketing and development field by having direct impact on the function, productivity, and visibility of Resounding Joy. Candidates will assist in numerous and varied projects customized to their specific interests. Each internship is customized to meet the educational goals of the intern. Current year options include: Appreciation Brighten people's days with a handwritten note, a phone call, or a social media announcement/call out. No personal phone or supplies are needed (position will be at Resounding Joy's office in Sorrento Valley). Access and Inclusion Advance equity and access by reviewing marketing content for diversity, equity, and inclusion, completing the Self-Evaluation Workbook of the organization's accessibility with staff guidance, auditing the website for screen readers and write captions as needed, and improving closed captioning on videos. Advocate Local interns interested in advocacy can help with any of the following: Attend and participate in community collaborative meetings, such as those hosted by the County of San Diego and the San Diego Military Family Collaborative Represent the organization in the community and provide feedback to staff on opportunities to advance music therapy within underrepresented communities Contact local civic organizations such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions’ Club, and other groups and arrange with staff, Board, or interns to make presentations. Compile list of academic institutions and determine possible partnerships, reach out to Greek organizations for fundraisers. Marketing Assistant A marketing assistant may help us with any of the following, guided by the volunteer/intern's specific interests: Manage events on community calendars Help create sponsorship proposals to corporate prospects Write press releases Create email newsletters Create 15-second audio Public Service Announcements Create social media content and manage social media accounts Create marketing content in Canva Google Ads Team Member Google Ads has a generous program providing up to $10,000 a month of free advertising. Make a difference by ensuring that people looking for music therapy or ways to improve their lives through community-supported programs find us when they look. Experiment and learn through experience with organization support. Case for Support Development Music therapy has a strong foundation of evidence-based research, and there's more published every month. Sift through research to add the most relevant, recent points to our grant proposals and marketing materials. Access to academic journals is required. Review and choose most important elements of current literature of the needs and goals of our clients (e.g., effects of stress on military service members, effects of adverse childhood experiences, etc) Review and choose most important elements of current literature on the benefits of music-making, and Review and choose most important elements of current literature on the benefits of music therapy. Social Media Team Member Support Resounding Joy’s social media presence, primarily in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Learning experiences include: Reviewing Google Alerts for keywords and develop content based on and linking to the latest news in the music therapy field; Developing content around holidays & awareness months Following partner organizations with Resounding Joy's account, commenting appropriately to celebrate their successes, and sharing appropriate content on our own page (including tagging), and Cleaning up image galleries to reflect most current event and session schedules. Qualifications and Requirements: Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, marketing, nonāprofit management, or related field, Interest in non-profit development, marketing and communications, Energy, creativity and excellent attention to detail, Minimum of one year of experience in customer service or related field, Record of high academic standards, Advanced oral and written communication skills, Must function well in group and team settings, as well as independently, Must be flexible and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively, Must be able to pass background check, Must have reliable transportation (for non-virtual options), Must possess interpersonal skills that excel in cultural sensitivity and respect for differences. Preferably knowledge of fundraising and communications software (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign; Constant Contact; Wordpress; etc.) Preference for experience with primary client populations, including medically resilient children, service members/veterans, older adults with dementia, etc. Reporting Relationships: Supervised by the Director of Engagement Classification Status: This is an unpaid internship and requires a minimum commitment of 150 hours over a period of time not to exceed six months.
