Our Mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
The Alzheimer's Association, the world leader in Alzheimer research and support, is the first and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments, and an eventual cure for Alzheimer's.
There are currently 5.1 million people with the disease in the US. Unchecked, this number will spiral upward rapidly with the aging of the Baby Boomers arriving at a figure of 15 million people with the disease in the year 2050, collapsing our healthcare system along the way. Meanwhile caregivers, often women, are having to spend less time with their own kids and may even have to leave the workforce to care for a loved one afflicted with the disease. The ripple effect in our familes, communities, and economy is enormous... and growing. Our political leaders need to move much more quickly toward funding research now to protect our lives and our future from a disease that is currently positioning itself to be the number one health care crisis of the twentieth century.
Building awareness and adding voices to this demand is critical to advancing this cause. You can make a difference!
