Alexandria Health Department - Medical Reserve Corps

Description

The Alexandria Medical Reserve Corps is a corps of volunteers who support public health in an emergency or disaster. 70% of our volunteers are non-medical and we recruit people from a wide variety of professional backgrounds. Almost all disasters have public health implications and in a large-scale emergency, health department employees could not provide an effective response on their own. It is essential that we have volunteers to augment such a response, not only in times of need, but on a daily basis as well in our routine public health activities.
