Mission Statement
The National CASA Association, together with its state and local members, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so that they can thrive in safe, permanent homes
Description
CASA's (Court Appointed Special Assistants) are community volunteers who are appointed to abuse and neglect cases by the local family court judge and are trained by CASA program staff to investigate the needs of the child/ren involved, faciliate support by identifying local agency and family resources, advocate for the best interests of the child/ren at every stage of the case, and continually monitor the situation in order to encourage permenancy for the child/ren as soon as possible. CASA's are also trained to submit a written report periodically to the presiding judge with the goal of assisting the judge to make the best decisions for the welfare of the child/ren. CASA's are continually trained, assisted and supervised by CASA program staff.
