To Provide Housing & Support Services To Veterans On Their Journey To An Empowered & Fulfilled Life. - See more at: http://www.veogeorgia.org/
For 7 year VEO has given a home to homeless veterans and provided their families with supportive services. VEO has continuously helped Veterans move from dependency to self-sufficiency. Over the next six years, more than 1,000,000 Service Members are expected to leave the military. Our Veterans’ struggle to successfully readjust to civilian life has been the subject of numerous Congressional hearings, and the Veterans Administration’s ongoing focus as well. Some Veterans experience monumental difficulties; which include nourishment, financial, employment, personal relationship, legal, housing, and substance abuse issues.
VEO is committed to providing support and services for Veterans and their families in that transition. In alignment with the community priorities at the Atlanta Brave Foundation; VEO provides food, housing, and support services to Veteran Families on their journey to an empowered life. VEO’s Housing First, Nourishment, Family Wholeness, Supportive Services for Veteran Families, and Social Enterprise programs aim to end Veteran homelessness and unemployment. Currently VEO’s campus houses 21% of the homeless Veterans in Atlanta. VEO helps Veterans with their basic needs of food and shelter.
Since 2008, VEO has served more than 2,000 homeless Veterans. Presently, we are offering our Veterans a 100-bed facility in our "Housing-First Model" with wrap-around services at no cost to the Veterans who have no source of income upon entry. In 2014, the organization graduates 257 previously homeless Veterans; 80% of which received a job. On average, VEO serves over 33,000 meals a year. In the past two years VEO provided over $1.3M worth of supplies and services to Veterans and their families. Last year VEO provided over 100 Veterans and their families rapid re-housing when faced with impending homeless and supportive services; such as help with food, rent, utilities, medical bills and other essential expenses.
The VEO’s strategic objective is to improve Veteran wellness and economic security. VEO offers homeless Veterans and their families a continuum of care; that includes food, immediate housing, treatment and recovery for addiction, clothing, medical care, counseling, and job placement. By providing such a wide array of tools to our residents, we are ensuring that our programs provide lasting changes.
